AION 2 Global Guide: Launch Details, Servers and Tips for New Players
AION 2 launched globally on October 5, 2026. The global version is free-to-play and currently PC only. This guide covers what you need to know before you start: the launch timeline, the server setup, what is still unannounced, and the habits that help new players get through the early game.
Quick start
- Start on PC. The global version is PC only at launch, and a console version is said to be in preparation.
- Pick a region carefully. There are regional servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, and cross-server features are limited at launch.
- Learn the quest and map flow before you spend money on anything. The free version is complete enough to play for a long time.
- Join a group early. Many of the best rewards are easier to get with others.
- Check the official announcements for character transfer and cross-server details, since these are not yet final.
Launch timeline and platforms
The global timeline was announced in advance. The launch sequence was:
- Launch Scale Test: September 17 to 18, with pre-download from September 16
- Founder’s Pack Early Access: September 30 to October 4
- Global launch: October 5, 2026, at 13:00 UTC
At launch the game is PC only, via Steam and NCSOFT’s PURPLE launcher. NCSOFT has said there are no plans for a global mobile version, but a console version is being prepared. No console platform, date, price, or cross-play decision has been announced.
Servers and regions
Global servers are split into four regions: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The game is available in ten client languages. Mainland China is a separate version, published by Shengqu Games, with its schedule to be announced later.
Some systems work only between servers in the same early-access group. The cross-server marketplace is not expected to be open at full launch. A character transfer service between global servers has been promised, but the details are not final.
Early game habits that help
Follow the main quests and then explore
The first zones teach the systems you will use all game. Finish the main line first, then explore side content with the time you have left.
Group up for dungeons
Dungeons and instances reward teamwork more than solo play. Use the group finder or your server’s community channels to find a party early.
Upgrade gear as you go
Compare the stats on every new item. Upgrade the slots you use most, and sell or dismantle the rest so you do not carry unused items.
What is not yet announced
Developers have said the global servers will launch with a backlog of finished content, released based on data and player feedback rather than a fixed schedule. No dated post-launch roadmap has been published for the global version. The following items are not confirmed for global and are listed only as context from other regions:
- Chapter 2 sections in Eltnen and Morheim
- A further level cap increase
- Additional dungeons and a new playable class
- PvP modes such as Outlands and Spacetime Rift: Domination
